With the lack of bands out now, wouldn’t it be lovely to have these groups back on the scene? Take a look…
1. B2k kept the Pandemonium going for almost four years, but with issues behind the scenes it all fell to a hush. B2k had the perfect mixture of sensuality and precise dance moves. With Omarion dropped from Young Money and Raz- B taking out ads on gay dating sites, getting the boys back together is in their best interest.
Check out their video: “Gots Ta Be”
2. Jagged Edge took R&B to the next level with love ballads like “Gotta Be” and “Goodbye.” They bridged the gap, mixing old school love lessons with new school “swag.” Their presence in the game is heavily missed.
Check out their biggest song: “Lets Get Married”
3. Back when Bad Boy was on top of the game, 112 was bringing hot dance moves and unique voices to the R&B world. Sadly the lead singer Slim went solo in 2009. Can we get a reunion?
Check out their number one hit: “Peaches N’ Cream”
4. The platinum blonde hair dye may have gotten into lead singer Sisqo’s head, but Dru Hill gave us hits like “We’re Not Making Love No More” and “I Should Be Your Boyfriend.” Unfortunately lead singer Sisqo went solo.
Check out their single: “In My Bed”
5. When it comes down to old school R&B, Silk hit hard with singles like “Freak Me” and “Meeting In My Bedroom.” Silk set the bar high for all guy groups that followed.
6. The group Next mixed sexy lyrics with creamy beats and brought you smashes like “Butta Love” and “Will You Be My Wifey?” Robert Lavelle “R.L.” Huggar went solo in 1999 and Raphael “Tweety” Brown left in 2007.
Watch their debut single: “Too Close”
7. Before Diddy was even thinking about making bands on MTV, Heavy D was super producing and making stars like Soul 4 Real. Soul brought innocence and catchy hooks to R&B. Their biggest song was “Candy Rain,” which still gets heavy play to this day.
8. Who didn’t walk around singing “No Diggity, No Doubt” when Blackstreet stomped onto the scene in the 90′s? With super producer Teddy Riley behind the reigns, Blackstreet should make a comeback.
Watch: “I Like The Way You Work It”
9. Sure Marques Houston made “Naked” but Immature made “Never Lie” and “We Got It.” Before Chris Stokes even thought about B2k, he invested a mixture into Immature’s potion that had them selling out tour dates way before the average boy band. Lead singer Marques Houston went solo in 2003.
10. If someone could get Bobby Brown to simmer down, and pull Michael Bivins away from Diddy, then maybe—just maybe—New Edition could “Stand The Rain” again.
Check out: “Cool It Now”
P.S.: Bobby probably won’t get it together, so we’ll settle for BBD…
