First announced a day after the death of the iconic singer, the Spike Lee-helmed James Brown biopic has finally found their man to fill the shoes of the legendary soul singer: Wesley “Tax Evasion” Snipes.

Wrong decade, Spike.  Wesley’s Willie Mays Hayes days are over.  Anyone remember his last theatrical foray, 2006’s Chaos?  Didn’t think so.

Why not cast Derek Luke, Lee’s Miracle At St. Anna muse, who played an eccentric Puffy to perfection in Notorious, as “The Godfather of Soul”?

Then again, if Mickey Rourke can make a comeback, why not Wes?
