The Soloist

Based on the trailer for this scuttled Oscar-bait flick (which was bumped from November to next April) Jamie Foxx should have taken a lesson from his co-star Robert Downey Jr.’s character in Tropic Thunder: “Never do the full retard.”  Foxx plays a brilliant cellist-turned-schizophrenic homeless man discovered by Downey Jr.’s journalist on Skid Row.  The rest appears to be standard-issue inspirational drama, punctuated by lots of shots of Foxx stuttering, yelling and letting single tears roll down his face.  Is it too soon to mount a “Take Back his Oscar” campaign for the former Ray Charles?

    well i don’t agree. just because the flik don’t have car chases and asses shakin on screen don’t make it a bad trailer. i’d rather see a mediocre trailer and find a great film than a great trailer and a s**tty film. how can u go wrong with foxx and downey.
