The International

Clive Owen and Naomi Watts are two of my favorite actors working today and director Tom Tykwer is responsible for some of the most striking films of the past decade, from Run Lola Run to the sadly underrated Perfume.  So why does the trailer for this thriller, set to be released in February 2009, lack any thrills?  Maybe its because I have no idea what the film is actually about, even though I’ve watched the teaser three times now.  It looks like Owen is some kind of British agent who decides he has to take down a European financial institution for some reason.  Seriously?  The big bad enemy Owen has to destroy is…a bank?  Where’s Darth Vader or Blofeld when you need them?
