Rambo: The Complete Collector’s Set
Rambo: The Complete Collector’s Set (Lionsgate, $54.98)
It took 20 years, but Sylvester Stallone finally got the chance to make another Rambo flick, which was a modest hit in theaters back in January. While the movie itself was ultraviolent fun (remember the bit where Rambo ripped some dude’s throat out with his bare hands?) the best thing about the fourth movie is that it gave Lionsgate the excuse to release the entire series in a box set emblazoned with Rambo’s famous knife on the cover. Look, this franchise isn’t about high art; it’s first and foremost a time capsule of awesome ’80s action movie cheese. Even the worst entry in the series–1989′s Rambo III–is interesting to watch, if only because it features the now-inconceivable sight of an American warrior happily fighting alongside the Taliban. This six-disc set comes with some cool bonus features too, including commentary tracks on all four films, making-of documentaries and vintage trailers.
Now that the films are collected in one place, when can we see this on DVD?
