Even before hip-hop journalist-turned-screenwriter Cheo Hodari Coker immortalized Chris Wallace’s life on-screen in Notorious another noted hip-hop journo was on it.
dream hampton co-produced the Notorious B.I.G.’s first documentary, Bigger Than Life. Open any established music magazine (including this one!) and you’ll find hampton’s byline. She has chronicled our most beloved artists since the early ’90s and has had access to rappers almost nobody else was able to get. Here’s an example. In remembrance of BIG’s passing (March 9, 1997), check out this rare nine-minute personal video (see video below) we get a candid look, through hampton’s Handycam, at Biggie as he and his crew is being kicked out of a hotel. Big was a funny dude! R.I.P. - Pharoh Martin
