Late last night an email claiming to be Kanye West from “whereartyeezy@gmail.com” and “whereisyeezy@gmail.com” was sent to a number of people with the confusing subject line of: Kanye West’s Mother Goes for Gold to Help Son Promote Misogyny, Indecency & Artistic Expression on Blog Zero.
It contained images of a semi-nude glamor model clearly doctored to superimpose the face of Mr. West’s late mother.
The email mimics the interface of Kanye’s kanyeunivercity blog (for those unfamiliar with his site, he posts designy things he likes, new videos, and a series where a speech bubble comes out of the face of some scantily-clad buxom pornish model person asking “where he’s at”). It all ends on a statement about objectifying women and how it promotes violence.
WTF.
As a woman who is not particularly enamored with Kanye I find this absolutely reprehensible. I think the one thing we can all agree on is that Kanye West loved his mother fiercely and her tragic death at the very young age of 58 is a terrible thing regardless of the too-easily mocked circumstances surrounding her passing.
I despise when lunatic zealots misfire, and am so horrified when they’re feminists.
The email says, “[Kanye's blog] isn’t art and it isn’t funny.” What’s not funny is vying for attention with this pathetic, deplorable hoax. I know the Internet is a harsh place but standing on dead mothers for your soap box regardless of the agenda is disgusting.
