The stars came out to play as the songwriter and publisher organization, SESAC, held their 13th annual New York Music Awards on May 12. Honorees included writers Regie Hamm for “The Time of My Life,” recorded by American Idol star David Cook; Nikeshia Briscoe for “Womanizer” recorded by Britney Spears; and Greg Curtis for “I Remember” recorded by Keyshia Cole. Billboard chart-topper Chrisette Michele was in the house as she was awarded the timely Ascension Award in recognition of her significant creative growth and musical success she’s experienced in the last couple of years.
