According to the New York Times, New York Giants’ wide receiver Plaxico Burress could get a deal for his gun possession case. Though any deal that he strikes with the New York District Attorney’s office would result with him spending some time in jail.
Burress, 31, pulled a “Cheddar Bob” when he shot himself with his own loaded handgun at New York night club Latin Quarters of November 29. His handgun was registered in Florida, but the permit was expired and under New York state law, it’s illegal to carry a concealed weapon.
The mandatory sentence for such a crime is 3 1/2 years. However, the DA is considering the circumstances behind Burress’ possession of the weapon and his cooperation, which could lower his sentence.
