Over the weekend, Naomi Campbell walked the runway at Lakmé Fashion Week, India’s premium fashion and trade event. LFW is jointly organized by IMG Fashion, and Lakmé, the number one beauty brand in India. Campbell strut her stuff at the “‘Mai Mumbai’ Fashion for Relief” charity show, alongside the notable names of India, including one of the country’s very own top supermodels Ujjwala Raut, its proclaimed first supermodel Madhu Sapre, socialite Feroz Gujral, heartthrob Rahul Khanna, and several Bollywood stars. As a demonstration of solidarity against the Mumbai terror attacks (November 26, 2008), the event was held to raise awareness and funds for Citizens for Justice and Peace, a non-profit organization that aims to ensure rehabilitation to victims of mass crimes. The creations of 32 renowned Indian and international designers, were presented in four categories: black (where Naomi Campbell first sashayed in a Vikram Phadnis), multicolored, pastel, and metallic (where she later glided in a Sabyasachi glittering sari). The night ended with, both, models and celebrities donning the Mumbai Limited Edition t-shirts, designed by and revealing each couturier’s personal fashion statement. Looks from the runway are being auctioned on eBay here, with proceeds donated to Citizens for Justice and Peace.
