Ms. Mary J Blige has been a giant in the music industry for over 15 years, but in Tyler Perry‘s next film, I Can Do Bad All By Myself, she’ll take a stab at the big screen as well. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Bronx-born diva will star along side Taraji P Henson and Perry’s alter-ego Madea, as a singer and nightclub manager.

The singing element of the role will hopefully ease her transition from music to movies, much like Dreamgirls did for Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson. The movie is scheduled for release on September 11, 2009.
