Somali-Canadian poet, MC and musician K’naan has announced that he will be joining Snoop Dogg as the opening act for the southeast leg of his national tour. Though songs by K’naan caught the public’s attention via the soundtrack of Madden NFL and FIFA, the video games didn’t exactly give him the credit he deserved, as the lyrics were drowned out by the sound of punts and kicks. And despite the fact that he’s ubiquitously been categorized as a “conscious” rapper, you can’t—and neither could we—ignore a guy that spits truth on tracks, while jamming with the likes of both Metallica guitarists (“If Rap Gets Jealous”) and Chubb Rock (“ABC’s”).

The run begins on May 4 in Little Rock, AR, and ends May 17 in Hilton Head, SC. The mash-up of Snoop’s drug-induced swag with K’naan’s calculated delivery could lead to disaster or become a genius collaboration. Either way, it seems worthy of watching.
