The son of the highest paid actor in Hollywood will be starring in the upcoming remake of the “wax on, wax off” classic, The Karate Kid. Will Smith’s youngest son Jaden will be playing the lead role of the new kid in town who gets bullied and learns confidence through martial arts. Oscar-nominated actress Taraji P. Henson has signed on to the project to play the main character’s mother. It’s still up for grabs who will play Mr. Miyagi, but rumors are circulating around martial arts star Jackie Chan.

The film will be the second installment from Will Smith’s production company Overbrook Entertainment, I Am Legend being the first. This will be young Jaden’s third film. His debut was alongside his father in the Oscar-nominated Pursuit of Happiness where he displayed his “like father, like son” acting abilities. The film is set to begin shooting overseas in 2010.
