This ain’t your great-grandaddy’s Sherlock Holmes

Star Trek isn’t the only generations-old franchise getting a 21st century reboot this year.  On Christmas Day, Warner Brothers will unleash a new version of Sherlock Holmes, which re-casts the Victorian Era British detective as a rough and tumble type whose fists are as fast as his intellect.  Robert Downey Jr. plays the new Sherlock and Jude Law serves as his trusty sidekick, Dr. Watson.  The man behind the camera is none other than the ex-Mr. Madonna Guy Ritchie, which explains why there’s a Snatch-style boxing match feature extensively in the trailer.  Consider me curious, but I also get a strong vibe of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen off of this thing–the terrible movie, not the awesome comic.
