oh one more thing..no disrespect but its not that Rakim doesnt have anything to say anymore.We need his message now more than ever.The truth is,these cats today in the mainstream have nothing to say.Theirs a reason when you see that kobe video with dont sweat the technique that you instantly stop what your doing.a song done so long ago but still sounds untouchable and can rock with whats going on today.the TRUTH never goes out of style..Rakims words are pure.Patiently waiting..I thank him for not wanting to do what dre wanted just to sell records.he understands how powerful words are.Everyone cant bought.Again..Thats a MAN to me..Go get Rakim.Teach the blind..

Why cant we have more intelligent men like Rakim in the game.Intelligence is incredibly sexy…As far as im concerned.Rakim is the spokesman for rap.If people support him,we can change the game back to were it use to be but even better.Hes right,we have to control it and not let others dictate and take whats been created in its purest form.Talent,creativity,growth.We are not growing with rap right now at all..Back in the day,you could go pick up a ra album,,krs album,nice and smooth album,superlova cee and cassonova album,biz album,big daddy kane,ed og bull dogs,i can go on forever but you catch my drift.everybody today sounds like a carbon copy of each other.you dont grow like that..rakim is the KING and I cant wait for him to show these LITTLE BOYS how a MAN does it.

OK here’s the problem. Assuming Rakim still has something to say on record, why hasn’t he dropped anything?

Why not use one of the newer school underground producers to bring a fresh sound to a classic voice?

You don’t think Madlid, El-P, DangerMouse, 9th Wonder, etc. wouldn’t break their necks to do the Rakim album?

I just don’t think he has anything left to say that he didn’t already perfect in the 80s. But if you give some young visionary producers the opportunity to inject their enthusiasm and technique we could see a classic piece of work.

Rakim’s comments on the need for the preservation of the music and history of hip hop were right on point. This was probably humble I’ve heard a hip hop artist be in any medium and definitely a breath of fresh air. Looking forward to hearing what he has to say in future articles and music
