We just came across some brand new photos of Jimmy Choo‘s latest line of sneakers.

The complete collection consists of a slew of leather and snakeskin kicks in several colors and two different cuts. According to Nylon they’re patent leather, matte metallic leather, or snakeskin, and available in high top (“The Tokyo”) and low top (“The Miami”).

While this is a first for the luxury shoe brand, it is consistent with their efforts to provide every demographic with a fitting shoe.

While the shoes are not stylistically stunning, they are definitely artfully designed. The new Choo’s are not necessarily shutting down the sneaker game, though they are a welcomed alternative to the played out Prada Linea Rossas that have dominated the designer athletic footwear market for a while:

The Choo sneaker debuts this summer, and each pair will sell for about $600. G Things indeed.

Award-winning illustrator James Jean is dreamy. His art is an OxyContin cloud in a clear winter sky. The fluid lines, vibrant color and fantastic subject matter combine melancholia and poetry. Fashion designer Miuccia Prada was so inspired by Jean’s work that she used his art on dresses for her Spring/Summer 2008 collection and has displayed his pieces in her flagship stores across the world. This winter Jean returns to personal projects, culminating in his first solo show on January 10 at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York.

GIANT: Do you work from home or a studio?
James Jean: The studio is part of my home. I have a door I use to shut away distractions such as pets and women.

What’s your typical day like?
JJ: I start around 10 [am], work like hell until 10 [pm]. I’ve worked longer, but I’m trying to have more fun and some social time.

What made you aware that you needed some downtime?
JJ: The long fingernails and jars of urine tipped me off. Your work can be wistful.

What’s the happiest you’ve ever been?
JJ: I’m even-keeled; one guy actually said I always seem sedated. I don’t have highs or lows. I’m focused—like a laser beam.

How do you work?
JJ: I plan everything out and have a sketch to work from, but there’s also a lot of improvisation. The last 20 percent of a painting is the most important. This involves destroying what’s there and coming up with some new idea or element that creates that final feeling of magic.

New York Fashion Week got a dose of La Dolce Vita on September 9, 2008 when the luxury brand Prada presented a blowout party at its Soho Epicenter.

The occasion was to celebrate Prada’s new art project: an animated short film entitled “Fallen Shadows.” The music was pumping and the paparazzi bulbs were flashing as Kanye West, Jessica Alba, Cassie, Robin Thicke and Perry Farrell came out to celebrate. Starlets Paula Patton, Zoë Saldana and Heather Graham even wore Prada to the party. DJ Heidi and DJ Jeffrey Tonnesen from The Box keep the party moving with electronica sounds as guest mixed and mingled with the glitterati. The anima film “Fallen Shadows”, is an extension of Miuccia Prada’s love of art and culture. Prada consistently develops experimental projects in art, film, architecture and sound design. “Fallen Shadows”, much like Prada’s high-tech fashion, is an innovative combination of futuristic vision and soulfulness
