Rock & Roll is a tradition that thrives in the American music psyche because of its iconic figures and imagery. Now it seems that rap has taken over the torch.

The rock movement marked the birth of the rockstar. These unique individuals became the face of rock music, easily identified by their incomparable look, sound and attitude. Figures like Keith Richards and Slash personify Rock & Roll, in all of its metal-music, wild-child infamy. Today though, the nouveau rockstar apparently has dreads and spits rhymes. It seems that the rock movement has been replaced by the rap movement, which currently dominates the music industry. Accordingly, the iconic rockstar figure has been replaced by the rap star. It is the Jay-Zs, Lil Wayne’s and Kanyes of the world who are leaving the legacies in music that are comparable to that of the heavy-0metal originals who helped coin the term rockstar. Here are GIANT’s top 5 pics for the new age rockers, most of whom, surprisingly come from a culture as far away from Rock & Roll as possible. With rappers taking three of the top 5 spots we are left wondering…is the rapper the new rockstar?

Black is always in style and has many practical fashion benefits..not to mention that its beautiful, it’s sliming, matches everything and can be an approitae color to wear in almost any situation. But the music game seems to have embraced the idea of All Black Everything as a fashion statement, attitude and overall sometimes creepy undertone of songs and their subject matter. You can always bet on black, and the music industry has taken to the dark side in more ways than one. Is this just a passing semi- goth phase or is the darkness hovering over the industry here to stay. Where did all the colors and happy songs go?

I Break The Rules So I Dont Care

Remember when RiRi used to sing happy upbeat songs that made you want to smile and take an island vacay? These days the princess of the new Roc Nation has undergone a dark transformation that has garnered her much attention and success. When Jay-z decided lil Ms. Sunshine needed a new image he ordered her to nix the good girl thing and push her bad girl side to the limit. Now Rhianna is edgy and borderline suspect with her new R-rated themes and songs like her newest single Russian Roulette,Barbed wire and all Rhiana has embraced Jay’s declaration of all black everything without a doubt…thoughts, looks, lyrics and all. It is clear that Rihanna’s R-rated persona enjoys the shade.

A Beautiful Nightmare

There is no denying that Beyonce has transformed herself into another person literally but with that transformation has come some extra shade. Before she was crazy in love, she was singing about independent ladies and bugaboos. Now Mrs. Carter has some pigmentally challenged things on her mind. Looks like that ambient Jay might have slipped her has some strange effects because she cant decipher the difference between a dream and a night mare. Her video begins with horrible shirking and sounds like a thriller copy-cat, either way Beyonce might like to sing about halo’s and all but its clear she’d prefer to turn the lights off.

Love and War

In the aftermath of heartbreak there seems to be little light at the end of the tunnel for Amerie. When she first arrived on the scene she was asking to fall in love, but her new album Love and War shows that sometimes love ain’t easy and the war will ensue. Like her other R&B counterparts she has embraced the edgier side, broke out the smoked eye make up and is looking like all kinds of dark wars are going on in her heart. Amerie is dimming the lights on the beauty of love and showing that sometimes you can’t always put on a happy face. Her single “Why R U” makes you wonder what she would do if she could dim the lights on her feelings.

Crawling Back to Love

Chris Brown has reason to wear remorseful colors and look like he is in deep thought. After that nonsense he pulled with Rihanna taking baby steps back to love seems like a good plan. In this case, all black everything seems appropriate for his current situation. Hopefully his morning period will prove redemptive for himself and fans alike, at least “Crawl” has a decent message and is pretty apologetic. Fading to black was a good call on C.Breezy’s part.

Leather Jacket All American Bad Boy

Lil Wayne’s strangeness ceases to amaze for many reasons but in the spirit of celebrating darkness in his collabo with Drake Uptown he gives a special shout out to black leather jackets, black sun glasses and being a bad boy. Black does give an air of mystery to any situation so given that Wayne is so concerned about people finding out about his secret success potion in that infamous cup of his, all black leather jackets and bad boy persona seem reasonable. Maybe Wanyne should put the cup down and step into some light, but not the light of his alien space ship.

My Brain is Wired Wrong

Looks like Rhianna isnt the only one teetering on the edge. Leona Lewis is trying to keep herself alive in her song “Suicide.” Heart break is not taking it easy on her, but at least unlike the Roc princess she is hoping to be saved. Maybe one day she will find her happy place because between her bleeding love and almost jumping, it sounds like she needs a hug.

Baby a.k.a Birdman has made it his business to share some controversial opinions to the world on 106 & Park the other day. According to him, Lil Wayne does more in Hip-Hop than none of than Jay-Z! What a claim to make right?

Well, let’s evaluate this further…

According to this years “Cash King’s” list from Forbes.com Hov topped off the chart with revenues in the $35 million dollar range. Lil Wayne came in at number six with $20 million.

Jigga is estimated to have a net worth of $150 million dollars. Lil Wayne is estimated to have a net worth of $65 million dollars. Hm… Isn’t looking good for Wayne.

Lil Wayne’s record label “Young Money” includes artist like Nicki Minaj, Drake, Bow Wow, and some others we could care less about.

Drake (the most famous of the bunch) has made a strong imprint in hip-hop already, and he hasn’t even put out an album yet. Nicki Minaj is on her way to the female Drake status. With her hips, lips, and t*ts you can’t help but pay attention- f*ck what she’s saying! And Bow Wow well no comment…Drake may be the new hot sh*t but he can’t carry the team by himself!

At one point Roc-A-Fella Records controlled the radio, and music game. Dame Dash, Memphis Bleek, Beanie Siegel, Young Gunz, Freeway, Kanye West, Amil, Teirra Marie, and Rihanna were all throwing up the rock sign at one tie or another. Priceless songs in hip-hop have come from these artist. Such songs like: “Can I Get A What,” ” Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop,” “Through The Wire,” ” Is that Yo Chic?” and “Pon De Replay.”

It’s safe to say that Jay wins again.

Both men are currently on tour. Recently Jay-Z donated his proceeds to the victims of 9/11( The release date of The Blueprint album). He’s brought out guests including Beyonce,Rihanna,Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Pharrell,Mary J. Blidge etc. Lil Wayne has brought out the likes of Keyshia Cole, T-Pain, Keri Hilson, and Young Money Artists (of course), etc.

It is safe to say again that Jay wins in that category.

VS.

When it comes down to reproducing, Wayne is NO stranger to putting that work in! All of his chicks are beautiful but are they messing with Mrs. Jay-Z,the baddest chic in the game? Hell No!

Jay you win again!

Besides these obvious accomplishments Jay-Z has won seven Grammys, and Lil wayne, four. Jay- Z is the owner of the 40/40 club, and owns the sole license to distribute Armadale vodka in the US. Jay-Z has stocks in the New Jersey Nets and was the President of Def Jam Records and still is president of the revamped Roc-A-Fella records, Roc Nation. Yeah Lil Wayne sold a mil in his first week but all his sales put together doesn’t even come close to Jay. Wayne is TALENTED and he gets props for selling the h*ll of his Carter 3 album but…

The Winner is:

“The Dynasty Continues, Yall Die!” Birdman “We don’t believe you, you need more people!”

There are not many things in our current economy that are recession proof, but the ice on a chain can outlast any tough time. Although talking about ice, bling, freeze or whatever else people are coming up with to call their beloved girl’s and guy’s best friend is now a dying fad, it is fun to look back on the good times. When musicians had nothing else to talk about expect the temporary blindness they incurred as a result of their jewelry addiction, fans were wishing for the Robin Leech lifestyle with a few cold pebbles to match. Although denial is usually not a good look, we are going to take some time to flip the bird to this recession and talk about the best songs that rep for unnecessary extravagance in addition to giving a nod to the cold weather thats on its way. Ice talk can bring a smile to any one’s face.

Repping the Ice for Love

Teairra Mari:Diamonds

Teairra Mari proves that talking about bling isn’t all superficial. She wants to love her man just as much as she treasures her diamonds because after-all,they are forever. This former ROC princess used to throw her diamonds in the sky with Jay. Even though she has switched labels she made sure to bring along her love for the ice. If bling can bring you closer to your man, why not shine and love at the same time?

Longevity Matters

Kanye West: Diamonds Are Forever

Kanye’s book is not the only thing he owns that will Glow in the Dark. Known for being quite the fashionisto, he is never one to be without essential accessories and we all know that Yezzy loves his multiple diamond incrusted Jesus pieces. It’s common knowledge that diamonds are forever but Kanye made it a point to dedicate a full 3 minutes and 33 seconds to his VVS lifestyle. And it turns out that bling is also representative of the enduring success of the ROC label his diamonds represent. His diamonds are alive every-time he rhymes and with that said, no one’s bling can top the everlasting iciness of Kanye’s freezy power.

Flirting with Ice
Fabolous: Diamonds in My Damn Chain

If you can’t get girls at least you know once you come up on some diamonds you will be able to pull a few. Fab makes a case for blinging your way to love lust. According to Loso, if you want a good chain of events don’t leave the house without bling in toe. Dating can be awkward and meeting girls in the club can be a tricky task, but trust fellas, if you do like your boy, Fab and get real icey the ladies will start relaxing. Diamonds might not be the key to a lasting relationship, but they are the key to loose women cooperating in the club.

Keeping it Simple

Smitty: Diamonds on my Neck

Smitty is not exactly a word smith, but he is explaining all the varied activities he is able to participate in while having diamonds on his neck – which can be positive. This song illustrates bling’s ability to work well in all kinds of unique and compromising situations. Diamonds do not have elastic qualities but the flexibility concerning the moments where they are appropriate can translate into almost anything as Smitty demonstrates. I guess he is keeping it simple and letting the ice speak for itself here. Guess you can’t knock the hustle.

Prerequisites
Lil’ Kim: Diamonds

The Queen B is taking her royal status to the head on this song. It seems that she has some pretty specific demands in terms of her gentleman callers. According to the Notorious K.I.M the only thing better than money is diamonds. Along with the bling this song gives a laundry list of other outrageous high priced items she expects from her male company. Its surprising that she had time to make that long list in the middle of accusing every rapper for copying her eternal love Biggie Smalls (even though she pretty much re-raps all his hot lines in ALL of her songs). Maybe Kim and Fab should get together, he has the bling to meet her Diamond standard.

A Smile on the Rocks
Nelly: Grillz

Forget working hard or balling on a budget, just follow Nelly’s advice, rob the jewelry store and tell them to make you a grill. Don’t aim to be a Crest Kid, head to your nearest mall and cop some jewelry cleaner. A great smile is a wonderful asset and what better way to let your words speak for themselves if they have diamonds to back them up? If you are on the Nelly plan, pictures won’t be the only thing worth thousands, a cool mouth piece will have you blinding people with your smile, literally.

Shining From Miles Away
Cash Money: Bling Bling

Its not a coincidence that Lil’ Wayne runs around talking about money all the time. Back in the day before he was leaning and baby making full time, he was spitting about blinging something serious in Nola. Every time he came around your city it was bling bling. Cash money’s creative conscious was focused on one thing and that was out blinging every one. There is no doubt that Nola’s finest brought the idea of dreaming, wishing and talking about ice to a whole new level. In the 90′s every one was seeing diamonds thanks to Weezy and his crew.

The Originator
Prince: Diamonds and Pearls

All hail the great Purple one. Before talking about bling was an industry standard, Prince was singing about two times the jewelry. Noting that diamonds are just an accessory and that love is the master plan, this epic song reminds us that diamonds, pearls and even the world don’t add up to the sum total of good ol fashioned love. The Artist formally know as an unpronounceable symbol takes the high road by down playing the importance of bling and gives big ups to tender love and care instead. A wrist full of diamonds…millions of dollars, A slew of Pearls…thousands of dollars, Prince reminding us all that love shines brighter than them all…Priceless.

There is no question that Beyonce reigns supreme in terms of female performers and it seems some of the confidence that reserves her the top spot can be credited to her alter ego. So in the spirit of naming part of your personality, we decided it would be fun to review some exisiting alter egos and create a few new ones.

1. Beyonce
Alias: Sasha Fierce

Fierce pronounced Fierrrrrccceee (add a snap for good measure) means furiously active or determined. There is no better way to describe Bey for all the hard work she puts in. Shasha sure knows how to work it and in case you forget, check the surname to be reminded of the FIRE that goes along with the FIERCE.

2. Bow Wow
Alias : Lamborghini Bow

If you have a GIANT question mark on your forehead you are not alone. When Chris Brown decided to start calling himself Lamborghini Brezzy, Mr. Wow, joined the Lambo club car frenzy and decided to follow suite. Thank goodness this never really caught on. Although, the speed racer thing might not be a bad look for Bow Wow. Since he is signed to young money and Drake is always talking about Phantoms, maybe they will sponsor car shows as a side hustle and Cam’ron can swing by with his mobile car wash to make sure the merchandise is nice and shiny.

3. Mary J Bleig
Alias: Brook-Lyn

Apparently MJB had an alter ego long before Ms. Fierce. Back in the day when Mary wanted to turn her swag on she called on her alias Brook-lyn (not to be confused with the borough). Brook-lyn is not only cocky, but she’s multi talented because this ego raps too. I’d like to see Brook-lyn have a rap battle with Lil’ Kim and find out who holds it down the best for BK. My money might be on Mary.

4. Keri Hilson
Alias: Regulator

Miss Keri bay -bay has earned herself the title of regulator. Not only is she one of the hottest artists out there but like her buddy Kanye, she has no problem speaking her mind and correcting other ladies in the game that think they are the only ones running things. From remixes calling out two female artists in particular, to tweets telling Lil mama she needs to STFD , this ATL shawty don’t play. In case you didn’t know Keri “Regulator” Hilson will most definitely let you know if you’re “turning her off”.

5. Ryan Leslie
Alias: Prez Les

This guy might give Obama a run for his money. Ryan Les for Prez is something this multifaceted artist often says at the beginning of his tracks and for good reason. From Harvard to the studio, he’s got politician written all over him. He was persuasive enough to skip his senior year of high school and gain acceptance to the current president’s law school alma marter and this smooth talker has used his gifts to win the public over via his musical selections. He can even play the sympathy card for voters by being the victim of a heart breaking scandal that involves a hot younger woman and Mr. Diddy himself. If you believe in the Amazing Music Political party you should vote Ryan “Prez Les” Leslie.

6. Lil Wayne
Alias: The Pharmacist

If Wayne ever decides to hang up the mic he’s got a promising career in pharmaceuticals. Thanks to his verse on the “Knuck if you buck” remix we know that he has an assortment of goods for your convenience such as ” that tussin, that scummy and that A dust, so pick your high, he will s-u-p-p-l-y and correct change is whats up” . Even though he didn’t manage to finish up his studies at the University of Houston I’m sure with his skill he could earn himself an honorary doctorate. I suggest any one in the music game that suspects they are going to catch cold should avoid the hospital and call this guy, because he is sure to have a remedy to relax your mind. SMH.

7. Kanye West
Alias: Dr. J/Mr. Hyde

Poor Kanye just can’t pick a side. Sometimes he’s friendly as can be and other times he’s taking away people’s awards (I wonder if his kryptonite is Henesy?). But it must be hard battling two personalities. One thing is for sure, no matter which Kanye you get, they are both uber talented and full of surprises. Kanye is like a weekend special, you get two for one, and in this recession who are we to argue with a bargain?

8. 50 cent
Alias: Fireman

The roof the roof is on FIRE! No worries, Just call ya boy 50. Since he’s not busy beefing with Game anymore and seems to have some personal experience with flames what better way to give back to the community than by putting out some scorchers with all that formula 50 vitamin water? Sounds like a win-win to me. The burn sights would have a nice grape smell and he could recycle the bottles after. 50 this is your chance to go green, and since you already have enough paper in your pocket it shouldn’t be problem.

9. John Legend
Alias: Professor

It seems that this legend could teach us a thing or two besides how to break up and make up over and over and over again. He has been know to profess the essence of non-committal relationships in such a convincing way that it would make you be proud to check the “its complicated box on your facebook” for him. Before his voice was being used as a sound track to Gap commercials and we were reminded that “we’re just Ordinary people”, John “Professor” Legend was at the University of Pennsylvania studying English Literate, no wonder he has such a way with words.

10. Usher
Alias: Lion Tamer

After Usher let the world know it was “my way” or the highway he has been breaking hearts ever since. In spite of the neon skullies, Usher is real ladies man. So much so that he was able to use his moves to lock down several older women like Chilli, Naiomi Camble and Tamika. Its clear that even though Mr. Moving Mountains could have his fair share of good looking younger ladies, he prefers the cougar crowd. In the world of celebrity dating, its a circus out there and since Usher is a pro his experience has earned him the title of Lion Tamer.

Normally being two faced is a bad thing, but for these celebs its an asset. There are many perks that come with fame and having two personalities is just another thing to add to the list. When you’re famous you can promote yourself as two people and no one will think you are crazy, they will applaud your genius. So my hats off to anyone who can convince millions of people that it is normal and even cool to be two people at the same time. Now thats talent.

If T-Pain’s circus buffoonery wasn’t enough, how about him coming at Jigga to tickle your fancy? It has been revealed via Fabolous’ twitter that Mr. Pain was taking shots at Jay’s (old) age. It might be Jay’s “DOA” track that got the ball rolling, but sorry T-Pain, if your’re not Nas, then don’t try your luck.

In this matchup there’s no contest.

Winner: Jay-Z

T-Pain at Rehab in Los Vegas:

2. Eminem vs. Mariah & Nick

Eminem may be lyrically devastating but Mariah embarrassed him in the “Obsessed” video (Come on, he got hit by a bus!). Slim Shady tried to save face by coming back at at Mariah and Mr. Canon but at least Nick can last in the bedroom.

Winner: Mariah

Eminem-”The Warning”

3. Nelly vs. KRS-1

Nelly a.k.a Dr. Seuss wouldn’t understand lyrical content if it slapped off his Band-Aid. Good thing this beef didn’t get onto the Jay-Z and Nas level or Nelly may not even have a career.

Winner: Nelly

KRS-1- “Ova Here” (Nelly Diss)

Nelly- “Roc The Mic Remix”(KRS-1 Diss)

4. Suge Knight vs. Diddy

Whether it be about East Coast vs. West Coast, or Biggie vs. 2 Pac, these two have gone back and forth for years. Suge Knight has bullied and patronized Puff since 94′. Suge recently got knocked the f*ck out by some barber dude and hasn’t been seen since. Good for Diddy, now he can dance in his artist’s video all he wants!

Winner: Diddy

6. 50 Cent vs. Everyone

50 cent has no life and too much money, period point blank! If he isn’t coming at someone’ throat then he’s making mediocre songs about getting money. He used to be hot but not even his current beef with um…. everyone can bring back his career.

Winners: Lil’ Wayne, Jadakiss, and Rick Ross

7. Vida Guerra vs. The Game

Really, Game you couldn’t touch Vida with a ten foot pole! There are plenty of good rappers she could mess with if she wanted to get to the top. What foolishness were you trying to pull?

Winner: Vida Guerra

Earlier this week, it was announced that uncontrollably horny UFC fighter and resident meathead and headcase Quinton “Rampage” Jackson was to play B.A. Baracus in the upcoming A-Team movie, the role that made Mr. T famous enough to star in 1-800 COLLECT commercials and pave the way for Carrot Top to follow in his footsteps.

Unfortunately, MTV reported a couple days later that Rampage wouldn’t be Bosco (B.A. actually doesn’t stand for Bad Ass). The rap world rejoiced, as The Game and Common have been linked with the role, and we all know they’re trying to keep their blossoming movie careers going strong after career-defining performances in Belly 2 and Terminator 4, respectively.

If a rapper is being considered for any movie role for that matter, you know one of the names in the Kangol hat is Ice Cube, and probably even Ludacris as well, though the work of one Mr. Bridges tends to skew more towards drama (read: shoot-’em-up, bang-bang).

Now, I’m not old enough (read: 40) to have seen the OG TV series, but anyone looking to emulate Mr. T has to meet certain criteria. First, a Mohawk. Second, the ability to not look like an idiot while rocking a ridiculously large gold rope. Third, fast, aggressive, unintelligible speech (jibber-jabber). And lastly, bad aim with guns.

Now, a lot of rappers over the last two years have rocked Mohawks (and looked like clowns doing so), but the most natural would be Yung LA, only because he still chooses to do so though that look should be buried by now. Now, with the gold rope deal, the only folks who did it right were Rakim and Kane, and I doubt Hollywood’s looking for anyone in the over-40 club that hasn’t been relevant for a decade.

Unintelligible speech? Shit, Gucci Mane and OJ Da Juiceman have that on lock, but reading movie scripts might be beyond their intelligence levels if Young Jeezy was right about them on “Kobe, Lebron.” When you think about, Wayne makes for a good candidate-when he’s sippin’ on that sizzurp, that is. He tends to then get his Mushmouth on, as proven on “Can’t Believe It.” And we know Wayne can’t aim a pistol if his life depended on it.

Though figuratively speaking, The Game always has a knack for shooting himself (in the foot) as well-beefs with 50 and Jay-so maybe he’s the ideal candidate, as he covers most of the bases.

And he’d look like a natural doing this:

Yesterday, Mack Maine (currently fulfilling weedcarrier duties on the America’s Most Wanted Tour featuring America’s most hated, Souljaboy) broke the news on his Twitter that Omarion, one of the guys from the black Backstreet Boys B2K had left Young Money Entertainment. It was only a matter of months ago that he signed and now he’s gone. Maybe the whole weedcarrying schtick wasn’t for him (In related Wayne news, word is that Wayne’s Canadian tour dates were canceled this week b/c his caravan of drugs couldn’t make it across the border.)

So what’s a marginally talented R&B singer to do when you get dropped from the only label that signs everyone? The following:

1. Get the band back together.

He probably wouldn’t wanna holler at Chris Stokes (no Raz B), but if he can get the rest of his chest-barin’ homies to crank out a few records, a resurrected B2K will do good touring strip malls and swap meets.

2. Make a sex tape with a groupie video vixen.

It worked so well for Ray J he got a VH1 show and the hook on a song with Yung Berg.

3. Do stuff involving vampires.

From Twilight to True Blood, bloodsuckers are all the rage right now. Who knows, maybe some genius in Hollywood will greenlight Son of Blade.

4. Land a role in the latest Bring It On film.

Omarion could flex his acting chops-previously highlighted in such stunning work as You Got Served. I mean, Christina Millian thinks it’s a great career move. And she knows a thing or two about good career moves.

5. Eat Vaseline on YouTube.

That’s how we started caring about Stephon Marbury again.

*This is applicable to any R&B singer. Yes, you Joe, Jaheim, and any other sanger-turnt-unemployed that’s out there.

Thus, it was the lines by rappers-of-the-moment trying to cash in that came and went, but even some big names couldn’t make their clothing work when they themselves always looked as if they couldn’t dress themselves. Here’s GIANT’s look back on all the lines that have faded into oblivion.

In light of Drake Drizzy Roger’s recent incident (he collapsed while performing on stage), GIANT has compiled a list of the worst celebrity falls. We all fall down, but who has fallen the hardest? Check who’s slip-up made the list…

Beyonce

Performing her hit “Ring the Alarm” in Orlando, Florida, the Sasha Fierce diva took a tumble forward but picked herself up as if nothing had occurred. The tale of a true robot indeed.

Jazmine Sullivan

While doing her Naomi Campbell walk the songstress must have put a little too much emphasis in the hips because instead of strutting her stuff, she showed off her janitorial skills by mopping the floor with her face.

Lil’ Wayne

Maybe it was excitement or he believe he could magically fly, but whatever it was, Wayne should blame it on the styrofoam cup.

Tyra Banks

In her epic fail attempt to back away from a porcupine, instead Tyra backs it right up onto the floor. She could have a serious phobia but we are pretty sure she’s seen scarier things, models without makeup by chance?

Method Man

Joaquin Phoenix

Amped after delivering the illest 16-bars, Joaquin decides to hype the crowd after his “performance.”

Michelle Williams
Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child takes a fall

We all know the bond between the girls in Destiny’s Child has always been questionable but they didn’t even lend a helping hand during Michelle’s time of tragic embarrassment. Maybe Matthew Knowles should each a class on taking one for the team instead?

Beanie Siegel

Beanie Siegel should be the spokesperson for drumming while drunk, it may cause accidental falls.

Carmen Electra

Carmen knew she was working it in that dress, but what she ended up working was the floor. Less sass and more grace next time.

Drake

Though the Toronto rapper was seriously injured during his fall (he broke another ligament in addition to tearing his ACL), if Drake’s rapping career doesn’t blossom to its full potential he could always take up ice skating the way he skated across the stage with such grace.

Rappers have been guilty of the skivvies-bearin’ pants saggin’ since the early 90s when even TLC was doin’ it up. It bothered conservatives because it was too asstastic. Now with artists popularizing the tight sag with their preference of blood circulation-threatening skinny jeans, ball-bulgin’ is now another unfortunate result.

56-year-old school teacher Thomasina Clarke has had enough, and rightfully so. According to The Riverfront Times, Clarke has developed Bagg’ns, jeans designed with two waists, one rightly at the waist and another below the ass to retain the sag. Aesthetically, it’s not pretty. But stranger things have caught on—i.e. wolf tees and tight jeans.

Hopefully some stylists catch the Bagg’ns bug and start outfitting their clients with respectable apparel. Those attached to the following should take note.

Lil Wayne

The choice of white is probably meant to match his Styrofoam cup.

Jim Jones

Cam was always the one with a better fashion sense—like when he wore pink.

Juelz Santana

The natural consequence of sippin’ purp with Weezy and blowin’ purp with Jim.

U-N-I

These West Coasters’ best track begins with the lines, “Mohawk with the v-neck, Skinny jeans with some kicks you ain’t seen yet.” Yep, these guys got it. And by it, I mean an abundance of fail.

Hip-hop’s rock & roll rap star Lil Wayne is known for boggling the minds of his fans with his lyrics but he’s recently been plastered all over the internet for his latest stint as a “controversial casanova.” GIANT explores Weezy’s limitless hook-ups over the past years and how the rappers most up-to-date exploits are causing six degrees of trauma.

When Lil Wayne first started out as a Hot Boy, Cash Money Records first rap group, he married his high school sweetheart Antonia “Toya” Carter. The two met in middle school where Weezy first established himself as a local rapper. The school crush soon transformed over the years when Toya became pregnant with their now 8 year-old daughter Reginae. After alleged infidelity issues the couple went their separate ways.

But in 2003 the New Orleans rapper began dating R&B singer Nivea, and the couple had a buzzing romance. With a rumored wedding engagement in the air, the possibilities became endless. But after two years the pair parted ways and Wayne moved on, so to speak.

As Wayne’s solo stardom continued rising he would soon score huge points in the hip-hop world when he started dating Florida’s sassiest female rapper Trina. While the two were together their “bad boy” and “bad girl” persona seemed to work well, and it looked as if this time Weezy met his match. Yet again fans of the hip-hop couple were sadly mistaken when the trend of heartbreak reached “the baddest b**ch.” The two broke up after a year together.

After hooking up with video vixen Karrine Steffans and recently having a baby with Sara B, a nail technician turned model, the rap gigolo’s latest attempts at “love” have been quite startling…

Old girlfriend Nivea and actress/model Lauren London have come out to the public saying they’re both preggos, naming Wayne as the father. Coincidentally both women became pregnant in the same month! The icing on the cake is Weezy is now allegedly seeing his backup singer and new Young Money artist Shanelle. With Weezy’s continual attempts at a relationship we wondered who would be the rappers next choice if he were to have his own show on VH1 called For The Love of Weezy. We threw in some likely choices for the hip-hop star’s “love escapades.”

Coming off of his second win in the NBA finals over the Orlando Magic last night, Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant received an enormous victory shout-out from “the best rapper alive.” In his honor Lil Wayne creates “Kobe Bryant” proclaiming Kobe to be the the greatest basketball player to ever don the purple and gold jersey.

On the track Wayne even compares his greatness to Bryant’s. “Ok, Kobe doin work, two four on my shirt, he the greatest on the court and I’m the greatest on the verse.”

Weezy’s lyrical homage even includes some words from MVP Lebron James. “I’ve been quoted as saying that he’s definitely the best player in our league…there’s not another guy in this league that can accomplish what he did.”

With the creation of this personalized theme song it’s very clear who Weezy’s rooting for in the finals.

Not surprisingly, Universal Motown confirmed yesterday (May 21) that it was once gain pushing back the release date of Weezy’s rock manifesto, Rebirth — for something like the fourth or fifth time (lost count).

For obvious reasons, the album might never see the light of day mainly because it’s a rock album, with guest spots from the likes of Avril Lavigne. The block might not be so hot for that.

It’s not that 14-year old New Jersey girls won’t eat it up Rebirth like they did Tha Carter III. It’s an instance of the “Mesmerize” phenomena. Remember when Ja and Ashanti pranced around like Danny Zuko and the blonde chick who made “Let’s Get Physical” in a scene out of mu’fuckin’ Grease? Sure, Ja was a retail monster leading up to and with that album, The Last Temptation. But once that video hit Rap City, homey’s career was a wrap afterwards. Tha Carter 4 could be the one to struggle if Wayne gets his syrup-induced Rebirth.

There’s also Hova The God, who bought out his Def Jam contract and his last remaining album obligation to the label. Hov got his independence, but for $5 milli. Was it worth it? Well, when you take into account the fact that he’ll have to cover promotion and production — I doubt baby bro is giving Big Brother free beats unless that’s the reason Hov ditched Timbo — that album, almost certainly to be Blueprint 3, is gonna cost Chinese Democracy money. And as faith would have it, Axl’s status thus suffered.

So, BP3 may be the in-case-shit album for Jay’s Roc Nation. To make that $5 milliion worth it, he’s probably gonna have to build Detox-like anticipation by having Gay Fish speak on it every few months or so. In the mean time, Roc Nation will probably put out the Mickey Factz, Young Chris, and State Property albums. And in case shit happens and they all flop — which is the likely outcome in this climate— only then will Hov throw up the Hail Mary with BP3 to balance the books.

And then there’s Dre. Today, hiphopdx published a story confirming that a member of Dre’s new practice production squad — unfortunately not Mel-Man — has been working with Dre around the clock since they wrapped production on Relapse. However, December will mark a decade since Mel-Man and Scott Storch made the pifftastic 2001. At some point, you start to lose faith — as most have done so already.

Cuban Linx 2 could’ve been thrown in the mix but folks from some rap mags said they heard it and it’s raw as hell.

And so, all the aforementioned dudes carry impeccable Soundscan reps. So too did Eminem. But Relapse is reportedly only gonna move 650,000 units. That gets a pass for now but when you consider the promotion — Jimmy Kimmel stints, Skinemax music vid debut, etc. — is that good enough?

By the time any of those long-gestating albums drop, that 650,000 might be half and surely that wouldn’t cut it.

If the allure of the game keeps calling Jay, Wayne, and Dre’s names, then surely they may no longer be worth their weight in platinum, let alone gold.

- Devin Chanda

Drake announced in an exclusive interview with MuchMusic that he could soon be joining hip-hop’s titans in a late-summer tour of epic proportions. The blogosphere’s latest darling emcee says the scheduling is still being worked out, but that he could soon be hitting the road with the likes of Jay-Z, Lil Wayne and Young Jeezy.

Drake may be Canada’s biggest export since Pamela Anderson’s chest, but he will be dwarfed by the game’s biggest stars if this tour comes to fruition. Given the alleged line-up, it wouldn’t take much to assemble a full-blown hip-hop tour of Woodstock proportions. Add Kanye and Em, a couple young guns like CuDi and Asher Roth, and the legendary Roots crew and you would blow every other summer festival out of the water easily.

Hip-hop may have gone pop, but it would be even fresher to see it go country. Imagine how dope it would be to see urban music’s biggest stars rock a pasture (not so) near you. The security bill would be through the roof and the NIMBY crowd may have a cow, but that would be a small price to pay for such an epic tour.

It may sound far-fetched but with album sales lower than the Dow Jones, touring is where the money is.

So…get on that Drizzy.

And here you thought Kanye West was the most delusional artist in the rap game. Soulja Boy, who is now working on this third studio LP, The DeAndre Way, recently told MTV News that he’s looking to release a “classic” album and is reaching out to Jay-Z, ‘Ye and Lil Wayne to contribute to the record.

“A lot of people have been sleeping on Soulja Boy for a long time, when I first came out with “Crank Dat” it was so big and gimmicky,” said the 18-year-old rapper. “It went five times platinum and people were stuck on it for a long time. They said I was garbage, I was a one-hit wonder.”

Continuing on, he said, “I got everybody’s ears open, they listening. I don’t want no bulls**t. I want from start to finish, classic number one records. I’m not playing,” he said.

The YBF reports that actress Lauren London is five months pregnant and that the father of the child is none other than rapper Lil Wayne. The two were once an item and were spotted together last November at a New Orleans Hornets game.

According to The YBF: ”[London's] manager received a movie role for his client after it was first offered to Lauren. When the manager asked why Lauren wouldn’t take the role, the manager was made aware of Lauren’s pregnancy status. We’re told Lauren’s taking time off from her career as her current conditions aren’t “favorable” right now.”

If the Brooklyn-bred emcee was only allowed to use words that ended in a vowel, Mos would definitely smoke Lil Wayne in a battle of lyrics. After all, Weezy can barely spell.

However, lyrically sparring with Jay-Z may prove a little more arduous for Pretty Flaco. Check out the video above where Mighty Mos issues his challenge to battle both Hov and Weezy.

What do you think? Could Mos Def lyrically serve Jay-Z and Lil Wayne?

Men In Black 3 is now in “active development,” according to Sony execs at industry convention ShoWest.

“[Everyone], including Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, wants to do another,” said a source close to producer Walter F. Parkes in PARADE back in May, so the idea’s been brewing for some time.

[Insert Will Smith-scientology-Battlefield Earth joke here].

Now, this is good news if you’re 12 (or Jaden Smith because you know Will is gonna find a way to get his kid in there). Bear in mind, this means another SFX crapfest that some overzealous Fresh Prince fan is gonna con you into seeing—and also some awful music with Will rapping. Maybe Weezy can be the one to ghostwrite the film jingle this time seeing that’s he’s a (guitar-wielding) Martian and all. Actually, he should be in the movie as one of those aliens with only one line. I’m thinking Chewbacca meets Auto-tune here.

Anyway, at least Sony’s making another Spiderman, as well.

Oh wait, that shit sucks, too.

In other rapper-movie news, Common is out as the Green Lantern. It’s probably because Cam’ron came out of hiding. “Tenth movie ever merked out Monsieur Stigmonus.”

For his I Am Music tour, Lil’ Wayne made a stop at the Gibson Amphitheatre in California this past weekend. Though the Gym Class Heroes, Gorilla Zoe, and T-Pain are all listed on the bill as well, it was Keri Hilson, fresh off a cycle of debut album release parties, who stole the show. During a performance of the duo’s hit single, “Turnin’ Me On,” the two engaged in some PDA more appropriate for a bedroom. A mere 10 seconds into it, the two dip it low while dancing, and once the song ends (at the 2:40 mark), Hilson takes a breather to announce a personal confession: that the MC is doing to her just what the song title claims. Quoting a line from the track, she applauds Wayne for knowing how to “recognize a real woman.” She then turns around, clad in yellow tights, and gives the audience a good look at her backside. Afterwards, she stands behind the rapper, reaching over his shoulder and lifting up his shirt, to proclaim to the audience: “Ain’t a damn thing lil’ about this Wayne.” Booty tap’s and affectionate name-calling ensue.

Even if you’ve never heard of Jim Jonsin’s name you’ve more than likely heard his work. With hits like Danity Kane’s “Show Stoppers”, T.I.’s “Whatever You Like” and Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop,” which he earned a Grammy Award, already under his belt the Miami producer/songwriter talks to GIANT about how “Lollipop” helped other rappers get pop hits and how his highly-touted signee B.o.B., who now goes by Bobby Ray, is going through some growing pains to find himself as a musician.

GIANT: Your label Rebel Rock has a deal with Grand Hustle/ Atlantic for B.o.B. He has a very soulful sound. It kinda reminds me of some old Dungeon Family. What can we expect when he drops?

Jim Jonsin: It’s funny you’re saying that because we are actually going through an adjustment phase with him by way of his sound. We actually transfered him into the rock department in Atlantic. He’s really branching out. He’s playing the guitar and he’s rocking it out a little bit. So I would say it’s kind of a mic between hip-hop and rock. It’s his own little thing that he’s coming up with. We’re just supporting that and letting him be an artist.

B.o.B – “I’ll Be In The Sky”

So looking at your production credits, you’ve produced “Lollipop”, as well as other singles like”Whatever You Like” and Soulja Boy’s “Kiss Me Thru the Phone”. These are very melodic songs for rappers that typically stick to hard drums. What made you go in this specific direction for those guys?

[The late songwriter] Static Major set that off when he wrote “Lollipop”. If it wasn’t for “Lollipop” maybe I would’ve never made “Whatever You Like” because I found these unique noises and sounds- that I used in the same tracks. I kind of followed the mold. Because he showed me that a beat like that could turn into such a great song that it just opened my eyes. And it’s because of him that those guys came out with those hits.

Lollipop – Lil Wayne Feat Static/Major

You just worked with T.I. Is there anything that you guys talked about as far as what he was trying to do before he goes to prison? What’s his whole mind state right now since the last time you talked to him?

I sent him a few tracks about a couple of weeks ago. The last message I got is that he was trying to record and he was being picky about his songs. He’s really trying to record something great before he goes in. I’m not sure where he’s at with it but he just text me this afternoon that he’s recorded this one song and Timberland called him and said that it’s great. I think that he’s got to beat that album that he just put out. And he can definitely do that because he has a lot of things going on in his life right now so I’m sure that he’s inspired. So, he’s just trying to make a good album. Do you know how much pressure that is? being on the road and recording before he gets locked up- that’s crazy.

Ever wondered what’s become of the cast members of Chappelle’s Show since the lauded show ended? Well, here’s Charlie!

Charlie Murphy recently launched his web series Charlie Murphy’s Crash Comedy, which also stars other Chappelle’s Show standouts Donnell Rawlings and the guy that does the robot, is attempting to bring that same irreverent humor that made the Comedy Central classic so successful.

The first episode, which debuted today on Cackle.com, parodies Lil Wayne in same way that they famously lampooned Lil Jon a couple of years back.

Check out the first episode below:
