Pink Loves HBCUs
Victoria’s Secret has FINALLY added four HBCU’s (Howard University, Florida A&M University, North Carolina A&T University, and Southern University) to their PINK Collegiate collection, which was released in June previously featuring 33 Universities.
Soon after the Pink collection was launched a Howard student (Go Bison’s!!!) sent an email to the Vickie’s expressing her disappointment in the lack of Black college representation. When she received a dismissive response, she decided to created a Facebook page entitled “HBCU Ladies wear Victoria’s Secret Pink Too”. With in weeks she had over 400 friends, who were also pushing for HBCU representation. Oh how I love my fellow HU peeps….we always make things happen. Check out the styles below:
North Carolina A&T University
Florida A&M University
Howard University

VS is only adding schools based on VOTES. At this time, they only have 35 schools represented, so there are MANY others that are left out (and I think 4/35 is pretty good for HBCUs). If you want to see other schools, then you have to get people to VOTE FOR THEM! Nominate your school(s) by going to vspink.com.
Where is NCCU?????
wow…where’s Spelman? Tuskegee? Jackson State?…I won’t complain too much though, I’m sure they look at a lot of factors…I attend the University of Alabama (predom. White campus), and when they came out with ‘Bama Pink…ALL the stores sold out!! So, hopefully, the line will continue to grow…as well as HBCU enrollment.
I would love to see Penn State(PWI) have a PINK sweatsuit. We have over 24 campus and I’m sure Victoria Secret would make millions off each and everyone of our campuses.WE ARE PINK STATE!!!!! LOL
Why not Bethune Cookman. Everyone know you cant spell HBCU without BCU. I would by my old girl one, my mom one, and every young female in my family one.
This is a great step but I would love to see more HBCUs added to this list such as Spelman and Hampton University
I’m glad that Victoria’s Secret was shown the error of their ways and added HBCU schools to their PINK line-up. However I’m disappointed that those same HBCU students didn’t boycott PINK and Victoria’s Secret or create their own line featuring HBCUs. The only reason why Victoria’s Secret added those four schools is because they realize that it could bring them money, because as the Facebook group created proved, HBCU ladies wear Victoria’s Secret Pink too. When are we, as a people, going to stop looking to white companies and people to represent our interests and begin to build our own businesses for us? Words from your friendly neighborhood angry black man! http://www.ajhayes.com
of course!! this makes sense because REALLY this PINK brand is the biggest on HBCU campuses. I mean on most other university campuses I see JUICY sweatsuits more than PINK sweatsuits anyway…..
good for them (HBCU students) for not taking this sitting down!
