Celeb Style: The Notorious B.I.G

By Kenyatta Smith Jan 15, 2009

The Notorious B.I.G. will forever be known as one of the illest rappers. But what about his style? Biggie Smalls is responsible for reinventing several trends. Check out the three most memorable .

THE KANGOL HAT

LL Cool J rocked Kangol hats hard in his earlier years. But Biggie and his Kangol hats were attached to the hip like Slick Rick and his 20 billion chains.
Lyrics: “N—as talkin’ it, but ain’t livin’ it. Cristal pops, I’m sippin’ it. Mob hats and lizard sh–.” -” You’ll See”

VERSACE SHADES & SHIRTS

Kanye & T-Pain may be two of the flashiest dressers in Hip-Hop, but they are not the originators. Puffy and Pop were living the good life way before. They brought Italian designers to the hood.
Lyrics: I”I put hoes in NY onto DKNY, Miami and D.C. prefer Versace”

COOGI SWEATERS

Heathcliff Huxtable might have a leg up on Biggie in this category. But the Brooklyn Don’s both shared a love for the knitted sweaters from the Australian company.
Lyrics: “First things first: I, Poppa, freak all the honeys. Dummies, Playboy bunnies, those wantin’ money. Those the ones I like, ’cause they don’t get Nathan… Heartthrob never, black and ugly as ever. However, I stay Coogi down to the socks.”

WE’LL ALWAYS LOVE BIG POPPA

Big Poppa will be forever missed but you can still find him in the most random places.

On people’s clothes and accessories.

Street art found in the nooks and crannies of the city.

Only in Diddy’s most cracked out dreams would he ever look like anything like Derek Luke. I didn’t see the movie for that exact reason, but I have mad respect for the man the BIG was. The choice to cast an unknown was good. I’m just saying…how many people in the grand scale of hiphop know Gorrila Black…It would have been all the same. This Gravy dude looks like he did the part justice. I just have a promblem with Diddy casting an A-list actors to play him and Mrs. Wallace and a bunch of other unknows. Fair much?

S**t I felt the movie overall was the business. The only person I felt they should of got another actor on was dude that play pac. He was gansta enough

Aight, nuff respect to Big, and the movie, but the actor looks nothing like him… it’s like they decided to find someone big and near his complexion… there are other people who could have made a better fit that they could have searched for in their casting and even molded their acting if they weren’t the greatest… i just had to voice that, but big was a Mogul when he was out… too bad we lost him to the stupid violence that we did…
