Chanel Chic
Karl Lagerfeld brings the Chanel experience to life with Mobile Art: Chanel Contemporary Art Container by Zaha Hadid. Chanel has been at the forefront of high fashion and style since Mademoiselle Coco Chanel founded the brand in 1909. Mixing high-low influences from sailors to high society, Chanel has always be a force in pop culture. In the ’50s Marlyn Monroe was the Chanel No.5 spokesperson. Fierce! When Lagerfeld took over the company in 1983, he continued to push the envelop. Advertisements with artist/photographer Jean Paul Goode, ads with Nicole Kidman and even Chanel snowboards.
Everyone loves Chanel purses but you haven’t seen the giant one on display in this exhibition. With a high-styled mobile art container created by the world famous architect Hadid, Chanel is displaying the work of cutting edge artists like Stephen Shore, Daniel Buren, Nobuyoshi Araki and Yoko Ono. The Mobile Art Container is moving around the world making stops in Hong Kong, Tokyo and it just landed in New York City’s Central Park. Check it out and let us know your thoughts!
