Boutique Spotlight: Sid Mashburn, Atlanta
Voted as one of GQ’s 100 best men’s stores in America, this men’s specialty clothing boutique is a perfect blend of all- American tradition, southern charm, and metropolitan chic. Akin to a modern-day gentleman’s club, every piece spread throughout the dark-stained wood shelves and tables reeks of quality and has a classic sensibility. Among a range of other lines, you’ll find A.P.C. denim ($155), Levis 501S ($48), Polo, Tretorn footwear ($65), and handpicked Brunello Cuccinelli cashmere sweaters ($995- $1075). Sid’s own line includes dress shirts made from Italian, English, or Japanese cloth, completed with bleached mother of pearl buttons from Italy. Now is the time when you take a moment to let this all marinate; yes, we know it’s a lot. From meticulously customized suits (there is an in- house tailor) to timeless furniture, casual wear and accessories, this one- stop shop can even offer something to the ladies; the thick- framed Rayban glasses ($95- 215) are flattering on females and males alike, and the musky Musgo Real colognes work on the more assertive woman too. Our favorite pick? The handmade Globe Trotter luggage ($550- $2300) in forest green with cognac leather trim- it’s sure to last a lifetime, and only get better with use. You’ll find yourself shopping amongst a diverse selection of discerning young men as well as more seasoned, older ones who shop with an air of easy- going confidence in the trustworthy products and staff. And if you become a regular, you might even find yourself sitting around with Mashburn and the others, talking about well… guy stuff, because that’s just the kind of welcoming environment that these gentlemen have created.
