It’s often that my Market Editor, Kenyatta and I visit fashion showrooms to check out their collection. Yet, when it’s Market week, which happens a couple times a year (and really lasts three weeks) our schedules are packed. From men’s and women’s runway apparel, to shoes, jewelry and even lingerie, we view it all. It’s the best way to see exactly what we want to run in our issue. Sometimes you find yourself falling in love with a collection (yes, it is possible), and other times you’re just not impressed ‘umm, thanks.’ However, the point is, you know what’s in store for the next season.
We were invited by the cool Lance Lin (PR Manager of J.Crew) to observe the Fall line, and they definitely get a thumbs up! The contrast of fabrics, patterns and style have been tweaked a bit since my preppy high school days of ordering J.Crew cable knit sweaters, henleys and oxfords. Not to worry, you can still get all of that and more with an updated twist in the details. With the First Lady and President reminding us you can look fabulous for less than the luxury price, it’s worth checking out.
