The Epic Fail That Was 2008: #8

By Shahendra Ohneswere Dec 8, 2008

Microsoft pays big bucks for massive failure.

Apple may only represent about 10% of computer sales in America, but they kick ass when it comes to creative marketing and advertising. In an effort to play with the cool kids, Microsoft dropped a reported $300 million dollars into new ads to promote Vista and cozied up with celebs to show off how cool “PC lifestyle” can be.

It didn’t work.

Vista still sucks, Jerry Seinfeld stopped being funny after his show ended and even though Justin Long’s a dweeb, he’s still more relatable to the masses than Bill Gates.

But Microsoft still gets massive cool points for Xbox 360.

Future failing: Continuing to advertise the ailing Vista brand under the guise of Windows Mojave.
