John Forté Returns, I Die Inside
Right after he released his second album, I, John, John Forte went to jail on some drug-related BS. Sucks, too, cause the album was definitely on its way to blowing up, at least in my opinion.
Lucky for him he’s all BFF with Carly Simon’s son, who, along with his mother, fought for him for years and finally got a pardon from Dubya himself. Amen.
He’s known best for his work with The Fugees, but I know him best from the I, John album my college boyfriend gave me, whose tracks I completely wore the fuck out, and not because I was sprung.
Then my computer crashed and I died a little inside. It wasn’t because of the CD. It was probably from downloading too many unmentionables.
Anyway, the point is, Forté’s out of jail, and he’s all, “it’s about TIME,” so he decided to bring out the big guns with a new song entitled “Homecoming” featuring friend Talib Kweli and Mr. Magic Jesus himself, Kanye West. I have faith in the fact that his next album’s going to be a great one, too – Forté’s pretty smart and a classically-trained violinist. That’s been in jail. Pretty much the exact combination of nerd and thug I dream about.
