On Hating (Loving) Beyonce Knowles
I’m having a conflict of interest.
A song I couldn’t STAND last week:
- Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put a ring on it)”
A video I LOVE right now:
- Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put a ring on it)”
Some people are hating on it because it’s just her and two backup dancers on an empty white set, dancing in leotards. Most people love it because it’s just her and two backup dancers on an empty white set, dancing in leotards. But as I explained to a friend a couple days ago, the video is amazing because, frankly, Beyonce can do whatever the hell she wants. This video probably cost a grand total of $37 and the costumes somewhere around $150, along with about 10 hours of dance rehearsal MAX, and B has managed to turn a super-shitty song into a seriously catchy tune that makes you want to not only learn the dance, but do it at parties with your friends, even though you won’t, because you’re way too cool for that and so are they.
Unfortunately (but rather strategically, I’m sure), this song/video came out right before Halloween, which means girl and queen trios across America are going as the Single Ladies, and many a weave will be sacrificed during the fights that ensue over who gets to play Beyonce.
Beyonce, you slick genius bitch, i hate you (i love you). Die (I want to be you).
[from about absolutely nothing.]
