Internships

GIANT/INTERACTIVE ONE offer internships in the Fall, Spring and Summer to currently enrolled college students and new graduates.

The internship program is designed to give college students an opportunity to complement their formal education with career-related experience in a challenging, creative and professional environment. Required time commitment: 16-24 hours a week (ideally 3 full days though there is some flexibility) for three months.

Internships are available in the following departments:

  • Editorial
  • Advertising/Marketing
  • Art/Production
  • Fashion
  • Multimedia

Ideal candidates possess:

  • Strong grasp of current events and pop culture trends
  • Interest in a fast-paced news environment
  • Vast knowledge of entertainment blogs and national news blogs
  • Experience working on a school newspaper, magazine, Website, blog, TV show, films, etc.
  • Internet savvy (surf the web with ease, know the best sites)
  • A passion for all things entertainment
  • The ability to multi-task
  • Flexible schedule, must be available to work full-time 2-3 days per week.

Because our internships are unpaid, we encourage students to look into/arrange to receive college credit for their participation in an internship prior to applying. EDIT INTERNSHIP

Interns will have the opportunity to observe and participate in the production of the magazine. Tasks include: research projects; compiling entertainment news and reporting on trends; transcribing interviews; and performing administrative tasks including opening/sorting mail, photocopying, and mailing/delivering packages. Editors will mentor interns who want to develop their story-pitching skills, and may be able to assign short writing assignments. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, be a self-starter and be able to articulate clearly, verbally and in written form. Ideal candidates will have knowledge of the entertainment industry. Journalism majors preferred. Please send resumes and availability to internship at giantmag.com

ADVERTISING/MARKETING INTERNSHIP

Interns assist sales/marketing/advertising staff in preparing materials for clients, presentations and events. Will have the opportunity to participate in creative projects and brainstorming sessions for promotional campaigns, advertising collaborations and branding opportunities. Ideal candidates possess superior organization and project management skills; are clear communicators and proactive team players; are competent copy writer/editor; are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. ART/PRODUCTION INTERNSHIP

Interns must be detail-oriented individual with design/photo research/production experience. Ideal candidates will be proficient in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop; be art/design school students or new graduates; have excellent typographic, photo selection and layout skills; be highly organized and have the ability to multi-task. FASHION INTERNSHIP

Interns will assistant fashion editors in pre-production, production and post-production of feature shoots, Applicants for the fashion internship must be EXTREMELY organized, detailed-oriented and able to keep several projects going at the same time; must be able to work at least 2 full days 10-6 (no exceptions); must possess strong communication skills (verbal, oral, written); be able to work well under deadline pressure. MULTIMEDIA INTERNSHIP

Interns with media (video) experience needed. Seeking bright, energetic interns with media experience/education to assist in the pre-production, production and post-production of multimedia (video/audio) for the interactive division of our company. Interns will assist in the development of production planning and execution, maintain media library, as well as other multimedia tasks.
