Though MTV’s TRL and BET’s Rap City are gone, VH1 is rebooting one of its signature franchises; Behind the Music. The network has announced that it will airing 10 new episodes of once-popular documentary series which chronicles the rise to fame and subsequent highs and lows of artists’ careers.
The 2009 series will profile hip-hop artists MC Lyte, Lil Wayne, Kanye West and other pop music luminaries such as M.I.A., Coldplay and Britney Spears.
Launched in 1997, Behind the Music has profiled stars including The Notorious B.I.G., Run-DMC and Sean “Diddy” Combs.
