Assuming Rakim still has something to say on record, why hasn't he dropped anything? Why not use one of the newer school underground producers to bring a fresh sound to a classic voice? You don't think Madlid, El-P, DangerMouse, 9th Wonder, etc. wouldn't break their necks to do the Rakim album? I just don't think he has anything left to say that he didn't already perfect in the 80s. But if you give some young visionary producers the opportunity to inject their enthusiasm and technique we could see a classic piece of work. OK here’s the problem.
