If you’ve ever watched basketball and felt bad for the tall white dudes getting posterized, punked and owned on the regular, you’ll appreciate this video. Kno of CunninLynguist puts together a hilarious remix of Kanye West’s song “Amazing” dedicated to the NBA’s Mark Madsens, Luc Longleys and Shawn Bradleys- you know, all the pale, jump-hooking lovable losers that get put in the game to box out and send Shaq to the line.
There have definitely been some good white players in the modern era. You have your Larry Birds, John Stocktons and Steve Nashs, but even they seem to have some intangible squareness to them.
Chances are if you are white and grew up hooping in any American city, you:
- Were the timid ass white boy who could shoot but couldn’t drive.
- Boosted the team GPA but only played in blow outs.
- Opted for lay-ups on wide open break-aways.
- Got the championship ring but never hoisted the trophy.
- Were well-spoken but never got interviewed.
- Took charges, but got crossed and dunked on more often.
- Were scared to give a hard foul and always tried to break up fights
- Had a decent career, but have been reduced to the victim of one iconic Jordan dunk.
Due to the contentious Cavs-Magic series, this post is dedicated to the plight of J.J. Redick and Wally Szczerbiak.
