1. B2k kept the Pandemonium going for almost four years, but with issues behind the scenes it all fell to a hush. B2k had the perfect mixture of sensuality and precise dance moves. With Omarion dropped from Young Money and Raz- B taking out ads on gay dating sites, getting the boys back together is in their best interest.

2. Jagged Edge took R&B to the next level with love ballads like “Gotta Be” and “Goodbye.” They bridged the gap, mixing old school love lessons with new school “swag.” Their presence in the game is heavily missed.

7. Before Diddy was even thinking about making bands on MTV, Heavy D was super producing and making stars like Soul 4 Real. Soul brought innocence and catchy hooks to R&B. Their biggest song was “Candy Rain,” which still gets heavy play to this day.

Usually we question which came first, the chicken or the egg (I’m going to say the chicken), but this time around another inquiry comes to mind. Get ready for disaster! That’s exactly what the plot and script for 2012 are- a disaster almost worth crying over. Mix that with exceptional special effects and you have yourself a movie worth watching but not listening to.  (Better bring headphones.)  Although 2012 embodies every movie cliche, you would have to see it in theaters to appreciate the tsunamis, earthquakes, and fire balls…so there goes that $11.50.

According to The Mayan calendar the world is set to end on Decemeber 22nd, 2012. There is about two cents of scientific fact in the movie and the film doesn’t go into depth on why the world will end, but who cares, right?  Watching John Cusack outrun earthquakes is mind boggling enough. Better yet, try driving through a collapsing building- bet you can’t!

2012 claims”We Were Warned,” so in case these cataclysmic events do happen, take it from Cusack and director Roland Emmerich: Get an airplane, buy a ticket for the arc that the government is building in China (for around one billion Euros), and make sure you bring a screwdriver!

It’s evident in Hip-Hop and R&B that punch lines are important, i.e-”Guess it’s a G thing, whenever we swing, imma need Coretta Scott if I’m gon’ be king!”- Fabolous- “Make Me Better.” See how word play turns into a memorable line? The metaphors in music make you think, and then smile once you figure out how clever the metaphors actually are in meaning. The following celebs have something in common. They’ve had some great lyrics, but there have been times when the celebs have also said something foolish. So, here’s a look at their best and their worst.

With the progression of hair extensions over time, it’s hard to understand why these well-paid divas haven’t risen with the times. Either they left the house looking nice and something happened in translation, or they need to shoot their sylist. Like The Dream would say “Girl call Latisha, your beautician.”

Celebs set many trends that carry over into the rest of the population, but frankly, there are just some trends that people should and shouldn’t do- rich or not!

Common is known for his creativity and underrated rap skills. With a name like Common you would think his music would be average, but to the contrary there’s nothing mediocre about it. For this week’s upcoming episode of Current TV’s music series Embedded, Common gave his fans the opportunity to direct and produce their own music video to his track “Make My Day,” featuring Cee-lo.  The rapper judged the entries and picked a winner, which premieres on TV tomorrow and can be seen below.  In the episode, he also takes the camera on his tour around the country and on a trip back to his old neighborhood.  Artists like will.i.am, Pharrell, and Mos Def also talk about Common’s influence on their own music. Embedded airs November 4th, at 11 pm on Current TV.

Last week, Beanie Sigel released his diss track “Average Cat” against his long time partner and friend Jay-Z. In the song, He claims that Jay at his September 11th tribute concert “called the police on me//cause I was front row at the Blue Print 3.” He also raps “I can say shit, that will make Bey look at you different.”

At one point, Rocafella Records reigned supreme with hits and artists that ruled hip-hop. There was a time when the Roc expanded its resume and ventured into Hollywood with movies like The Streets Is Watching, and Backstage. Memphis Bleek, Amil, DJ Clue, Young Guns, Nore, Freeway, “Beanz,” Dame Dash, and of course, Jay added thespian to their repertoires. The Roc’s most successful movie venture was State Property (2002). It put lyricist Beanie Sigel in the forefront and he led the way straight through Lionsgate studio onto our theater screens. The movie didn’t have incredible numbers, but it instantly became a hood classic.

Besides Jay, Beanie was the next best thing on Rocafella. Memphis Bleek couldn’t rap, and Amil played the token female mcee position and The Young Guns and Freeway couldn’t sell records. However, as a whole they were hot! If you didn’t like “Do It Again” or “What We Do”  then you didn’t appreciate the Roc!

But, like any record label there were  problems looming in the air and in the backgrounds. After dissecting Beanz diss track it seems as though he was the backbone of the Roc. He brought all the talent to the label, and he maned all battle stations when rocks were being thrown at the throne. He even would’ve taken a bullet for the Roc at the time!

Leave it to Jay-Z to defend himself by retaliating with, “What people choose to do when they attain that type of success … at some point, you gotta look in the mirror and look at yourself. Beanie Sigel had a record deal, a record label, and a clothing line. Never went platinum, ever. I don’t know in the history of rap, if anyone has done so much with so little.” Jay gave him all that stuff because he was his friend, but Jay, where is what Beanz actually earned?

By the way after losing to Nas, Jay hasn’t thrown a rebuttal to anyone who could rap so if Jigga and Beanz got into a lyrical battle, who would win?

If Lil’ Mama ‘s life had a title, could you imagine what it would be? She dresses like a abandoned kindergardener and acts like a hormone driven- adolescent (hence her incident at the VMAs). This chic is obviously short a few screws, but hey it’s entertaining.

According to this years “Cash King’s” list from Forbes.com Hov topped off the chart with revenues in the $35 million dollar range. Lil Wayne came in at number six with $20 million.

Jigga is estimated to have a net worth of $150 million dollars. Lil Wayne is estimated to  have a net worth of $65 million dollars. Hm… Isn’t looking good for Wayne.

Lil Wayne’s record label “Young Money” includes artist like Nicki Minaj, Drake, Bow Wow, and some others we could care less about.

Drake (the most famous of the bunch) has made a strong imprint in hip-hop already, and he hasn’t even put out an album yet. Nicki Minaj is on her way to the female Drake status. With her hips, lips, and t*ts you can’t help but pay attention- f*ck what she’s saying! And Bow Wow well no comment…Drake may be the new hot sh*t but he can’t carry the team by himself!

At one point Roc-A-Fella Records controlled the radio,and music game. Dame Dash, Memphis Bleek, Beanie Siegel, Young Gunz, Freeway, Kanye West, Amil, Teirra Marie, and Rihanna were all throwing up the rock sign at one tie or another. Priceless songs in hip-hop have come from these artist. Such songs like: “Can I Get A What,” ” Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop,” “Through The Wire,” ” Is that Yo Chic?” and “Pon De Replay.”

It’s safe to say that Jay wins again.

Both men are currently on tour. Recently Jay-Z donated his proceeds to the victims of 9/11( The release date of The Blueprint album). He’s brought out  guests including Beyonce,Rihanna,Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Pharrell,Mary J. Blidge  etc. Lil Wayne has brought out the likes of Keyshia Cole, T-Pain, Keri Hilson, and Young Money Artists (of course), etc.

It is safe to say again that Jay wins in that category.

Chris Rock is better-known for his stand-up comedy and mediocre films about nothing important (excluding New Jack City and I Think I Love My Wife), so to touch on a subject as sensitive as “black hair” is unexpected. On October 9, his documentary Good Hair will be released and black women everywhere will cringe at the thought of being “outed” about their weaves, hair dyes and other techniques of illusion. The movie picks at the issues of black culture and society, which makes it hard to turn away from. In a recent interview Chris had this to say about the film, and his own hair:

What did you learn from doing this film?
Um, don’t touch a black woman’s hair! No, I learned a lot. I learned about the finances of hair. I learned that I couldn’t afford to be single right now, it costs too much.  I learned about Indians. The whole movie has been a journey. Even doing the press has been like, you know, you get a lot of people being emotional about it.

From working on the film and seeing it did anything change about your perspectives on hair?
The whole movie is just a celebration of the different types of black people there are in America. Forget the world, just in America there are so many. You’ve got your East Coast, you’ve got your West Coast, you’ve got your Southern, you’ve got an interesting array. You’ve got your gays and straights.  Just an interesting array of black people in this.  In most projects or in most movies just like this it’s the East Coast black people, this is the Southern black people.  It’s nice to see all of us just mixed up.

What’s the most money you ever spent on your hair?
It’s not even the money I spent on the hair, it’s probably money I spent flying a barber in and putting them in a hotel.  It’s like I’m playing London or I’m playing Australia, are you really going to try to find a black hairdresser to cut your black hair in Australia?  No.

It is estimated that hair weaves make up to 65% of the $9 billion hair business. That means a whole h*ll of a lot of people wear weaves.  Not only black women, but Caucasian women also. Instead of paying so much attention to your hair here are some suggestions from Nia Long and Chris Rock:

What things can women do to make themselves more attractive besides wearing a hair weave?
Chris: Pay your bills.

Nia Long: I would say, its not about your hair. It’s not about being beautiful for anyone else either. Go work out, take your vitamins, go to church work on whats on the inside. Because really, if you’re doing your work internally, that’s going to come through.

If you toss in some beautiful women in lingerie with a sprinkle of rose petals, smooth beats, and sensual lyrics theses videos come to life. All these elements bond together to mix up a sinful four minute experience that gets embedded in our heads. Next thing you know you’re re-creating the magic in your private sanctuaries.

In the cold case files, you’ll find unexplained events,circumstances, or disputes. Here at GIANT we don’t believe in leaving things open and unsettled. So I have set fourth to review all the evidence and render a verdict on this specific topic. Go there with me if you dare!

On October 6th on The Monique Show, two of the remaining members of B2K (Fizz and Boog) performed their new single “Bounce.” They looked great and seemed to be making a lot of progress in getting their careers jump-started again.This takes me back to the controversy and blasphemy of their 2004 dispute with Chris Stokes. 

On December 26, 2007 the ex-manager of boy group B2K, DENIED sexual molestation allegations that were brought up against him by DeMario “Raz-B” Thornton. For those that do not know, B2K bursted onto the scene in 2001 with their smash single “Uh Huh.”

The group consisted of four members: Omarion, J-Boog, Lil’ Fizz and Raz-B. Their ages all mellowed around the 15 year mark, but their fans ranged anywhere from 11 to 23 years old (I would know, I was a huge fan!).With this perfect combination of height, weight, dancing, appearance, and vocals they brought us hits like “Gots Ta Be,” “Bump Bump Bump,” “What A Girl Wants” and “Girlfriend.” Both their albums went certified platinum and their movie You Got Served grossed over 40 million dollars at the box office. With all that success you would think that the young men that once claimed to be “Boys For Life” would be able to stay together. That wasn’t the case though; in January of 2004 the heart throbs called it quits. While some blamed it on the lead singer Omarion, the rest of the group blamed it on Chris Stokes! According to J-Boog, Raz-B and Lil’ Fizz here’s what happened:

The boys themselves discredit Chris Stokes character by calling him manipulative, maneuvering, controlling, and greedy. Chris Stokes was already black listed in the entertainment business for being shiesty.

Setting up business trips on Christmas? Taddle-Tailing for clothes,brownie points and special attention? Getting in trouble for eating chicken? A cult? No sleep? WTF?!

Chris Stokes robbed B2K. He broke up homes and families, he ended the career of one of the biggest boy bands in the 200o’s and managed to take all the credit for starting them. If Chris did molest the boys,he should be held accountable for his malicious intentions and actions.

What actually makes a comedian funny is usually left open for interpretation by the audience, everyone laughs at different things. What these comedians have in common though is the fact that at one point or another everyone has laughed at something they have said. From the old school to the new school(excluding Richard Pryor- we all know he’s a genius) these men embody character, jokes, and charisma. Their humor is unrated, raunchy, raw and humorous, they spare no victims and hit all topics.

Martin and Dave Chappelle hit it on the head. Not only were their skits hilarious, they were true. Like the great Richard Pryor, they took personal experiences and put them on a platter for everyone to eat up. So there you have it, one topic, nine comedians, and one winner.

So, Mariah Carey’s album released yesterday. WTF?! Yeah I don’t even think she knew. That leads us to think about other slept on R&B albums. We all have them, the albums that we put on and let play from beginning to end. They make us cry, smile, reflect and sometimes, even horny. The LP’s are so good that you want to single-handily buy a million copies so they can go platinum. You may ask what are the requirements for being labeled a slept on album, so here they are:
1. The artist’s other albums outshined the one that made this list.
2.No one bought the album.
3.No one knew about it to buy the album.

9.Dangerously In Love- Beyonce:

The BEST Beyonce album ever! Forget that gimmicky “Put A Ring On It.” Dangerously In Love was pure R&B without the raunchiness, and the scam. You could make love to these tracks all night, wake up in the morning and bump it while cleaning the house. Great Stuff!

8.Rated Next:- Next

If you don’t know about Next then you’ve been listening to mainstream radio too long. Next came out with “Hard For Me.” Still don’t remember? Well, download a little something called “Butta Love” and “Taste So Good.”

7.Pandemonium- B2K:

Ok, bear with me here. B2K may have been teeny-boppers, but lyrics, looks and voices transcend age groups. Listen to track number 8- ”Everything,” let it marinate, then let the entire CD play from beginning to end.

6.Unpredictable-Jamie Foxx:

Jamie Foxx is hilarious, handsome, a thespian and a father. How could he not he make a popping R&B album? He’s been singing and playing the piano since the Jamie Foxx Show. Unpredictable is the perfect title. He let loose some guaranteed panty-droppers. Listen to “Do What It Do…”

5.Lessons In Love-Lloyd

You would think after the hit “You” that Lloyd would be on his way to stardom, but the limelight shines dimly on him. Lessons In Love is a beautiful smooth album. He may not be the oldest, but his lessons were just as good as any old timer. Listen to “Year Of The Lover.”

4.Ashanti-Ashanti

Ashanti may not be the best singer, but she can write her a** off. And, that was enough to create an album older women and youngsters would love. With songs like “Foolish,” “Movies” and “Happy,” the album brought back a vibe that was missing at the time of its release.

3.One In A Million- Aaliyah

First and foremost, R.I.P Aaliyah, and thank you for such a lovely album. Her vocals were angelic and her style was unforgettable. In this transition album from tom-boy to sex symbol, Aaliyah set the standard high for R&B females. She could dance and make hits. Listen to “One In A Million.”

2.100% Ginuwine- Ginuwine

Ginufine, I mean Ginuwine is more than a sexy face. His voice is sensual, smooth, and strong. He isn’t flamboyant or prissy, he’s a manly man with the 6-pack to prove it. This is one of the greatest R&B albums of all time (Yeah I said it!). Play every song from beginning to end. Pay attention to “All Nite All Day.”

1. Where I Wanna Be- Donell Jones

If you you haven’t heard “Where I Wanna Be,” then you have been living under the ugliest rock ever. You can not call yourself an R&B lover if you haven’t heard this. Pull up a chair and just listen to the instruments of his soul and his unique voice, and the beats and lyrics. You’ll be shocked that artists even dare come out with the blasphemy they do now!

We all know there’s that something special and unique about certain celebs that makes us tune in to hear them speak, watch their videos, or listen to their music. It could be something as small as their stylish accessories to their ridiculous ensembles, but what happens when we get tired of the same ol’ thing or we just don’t want to see the sh*t anymore? Then it’s time to switch it up! So here are some suggestions that could help their career:

Swagger Jacker- A person who steals someone else’s idea and makes it their own without properly giving credit where credit is due; therefore pretending like it’s an original piece.

Believe it or not, More Than A Game is about more than LeBron James. This basketball documentary takes you on the journey of the St. Vincents/St. Mary high school basketball team also known as “The Fab Five.” LeBron James, Sian Cotton, Dru Joyce III, Willie McGee, and Romeo Travis embark on taking their small Akron,Ohio team into the big leagues by winning a National Championship.

More Than A Game is inspirational. These young men came from broken homes and poverty stricken neighborhoods, but they came together to form an elite squad. From Dru’s seven three point shots in one game to Romeo’s tough defense, these boys worked hard and played even harder. LeBron was not the only player with talent, all of the boys embodied something special.

However, More Than A Game is held back due to its total blind eye toward James’ antics to get into the NBA. It briefly touches on his controversy before he was drafted, but it doesn’t take it to the point where we would think anything bad about him. He is shown as an angel in More Than A Game, as a matter of fact he was “King James!” The documentary also does not answer the very obvious question of why none of the other players made it into the NBA. It doesn’t even attempt to capture the essence of education as a back-up plan in-case you don’t make it pro. In fact, I didn’t see one book in the entire movie.

It may have some flaws but More Than A Game is definitely a heart-warmer. It’s no Hoop Dreams, but it captures that inner child that might have been lost in time with the maturation of bills and rent. That inner child that once had those dreams of being the best basketball player alive, or dreamed of being the next Michael Jordan. More Than A Game makes you want to be great again!

All in all ~ Good Movie!

Watch it in theaters. The sounds of LeBron dunking on guys half his size and the sound of Dru’s three point shots going Swoosh are priceless.
