World AIDS Day

By GIANT Dec 1, 2008

December 1, 2008 marks the 20th Anniversary of World AIDS Day when people and organizations around the globe bring attention to the pandemic. Both President George W. Bush and President Elect Barack Obama are both giving speeches today to commemorate the serious and important event. Bush will receive an award from Rick Warren in Washington D.C. for his efforts in fighting AIDS. Obama will be delivering a video presentation. The facts are staggering. According to the Centers for Disease Control 33 million people are living with HIV worldwide (1.1 million in the U.S. alone). Some 7,500 new cases of infection occur daily. Take care of yourself. Use protection. And get tested.
