Can you believe they made this thing?

I’m looking forward to a bunch of movies this year–Inglorious Basterds, Where the Wild Things Are among them–but having seen this trailer Bad Lieutenant Port of Call New Orleans immediately jumps to the top of my must-see list. I knew we were in for something special (or, if your prefer, crazy) when it was first announced that Werner Herzog would be directing Nic Cage in a semi-sequel to Abel Ferrara’s 1992 gritty cop flick, which is best remembered for copious full-frontal nudity from star Harvey Keitel. Based on the teaser, Cage doesn’t appear to be doffing his pants or shirt–which is probably for the best–but he is definitely bringing the crazy. Co-starring Val Kilmer, Xzibit and Eva Mendes, Port of Call New Orleans doesn’t have a release date yet, but you can bet I’ll be first in line when it finally arrives in theaters.
