New York’s Daily News has a great and exhaustive online gallery of 2008’s totes hottest fash obsessh (see what I did there?)—Max Azria’s reprisal of Herve Leger’s “Band-aid” dress. Perusing the shots, it occurs to me that there may have been hopes on the part of Certain Bold Names that “color” or “cut” would make the body conscious bondage silhouette “pop” and therefore “work” for “all” types. It occurs to me that this is not so.
This is not a fat vs thin issue (the last model shot from the runway is so hungry and fugskinny it’s insane), it’s an issue of fit. And whether your disproportionate behind held false aspirations of the unforgiving strands of dress not being polyester double knit but being hewn from purest industrial seatbelt fabric. I must say though (Kate Winslet and Joy Bryant I’m talking to you), some people look effortless and incandescent and this is why they are ferocious and deserving of our envyspite.
