L.L. Cool J Quiets Rumors of Sears Line Collapse
It’s business as usual for rap super star LL Cool J and Sears, despite rumors last week that the hip hop icon was parting ways with the department store chain. “My partnership with Sears has been a great success,” says L.L. “I look forward to our continued working relationship.” The LL Cool J Collection for Sears consist of affordable sportswear for men, juniors and kids and the partnership began in September 2008. The actor/rapper/author and entrepreneur is part of a new trend in retail (like Target, J.C. Penny and Kohls) of creating recession proof clothing with star power behind it. In recent years, Target has teamed up with designers like Proenza Schuller, J.C. Penny with Kimora Lee Simmons, and Kohls with Vera Wang. “Sears values it’s partnership with LL Cool J and will continue it’s commitments to providing the LL Cool J Collection to customers both in-store and online,” said Tom Aiello, Division VP of Sears Holdings. As LL said in “Another Dollar”, “I got to rewrite this mackin’ game, baby.” Cha-Ching.
