Just Signed: 50 and Forest meet Jekyll and Hyde

Believe it or not, Forest Whitaker and 50 Cent are the newest Jekyll and Hyde

It’s been a slow week for casting news until this bombshell was announced today.  According to Variety Academy Award-winner Forest Whitaker and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson will star in a new version of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic horror tale, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.  Billed as a “re-imagining” of the 120-year old story, the film will most likely feature Whitaker as the good doctor and 50 as his evil alter ego, but that has yet to be confirmed, meaning that it’s also possible that Whitaker could be the Hyde to Fiddy’s Jekyll.  Sounds crazy, but if anyone would cast against type that way, it would be Abel Ferrera, who is writing and directing this remake.  Ferrera, of course, is famous for having Harvey Keitel drop trou in Bad Lieutenent and casting Juliette Binoche as a modern-day Mary Magdalene in Mary, so who knows what kind of craziness he has in store for Jekyll and Hyde.  One thing’s for sure–I can’t wait to see this movie.
