Nerd Debate: SurroundXi Mini Speakers

By Alyson Mance, Assistant Editor Mar 6, 2008

Everybody wants to hop on the mp3 speaker bandwagon – after all, they’re convenient and pretty useful at parties. At the same time, they’re usually bulky and annoying, are only compatible with iPods, and not really worth the trouble of having to carry an extra bag. So SurroundXi called everyone on their bullshit and created the smallest portable digital speaker system on the market. In yo’ face, Bose.

Most mp3 speaker systems have limited compatibility (only iPods, CDs, etc.), leaving you with a bevy of sound systems that just take up space in your crib. Picking up on this, the SurroundXi connects to ANYthing – iPod/Nano, mp3, mp4, portable CD/DVD players, computers, cell phones, USB flash keys, u-disks, and pretty much anything else that plays music. It’s also small enough to fit in a handbag or the pocket of a pair of baggy jeans, rendering you the savior of any party foul. It’s also incredibly cheap, so you can replace it if you accidentally put it in the washing machine or something.

You know what, nevermind. This isn’t a nerd debate. This is just a really awesome product, making this post entirely too easy. What a waste of time. $39.99, surroundxi.com
